Here is my Dear Writer Letter: HERE
14th-Apr-2012 03:57 pm (UTC)
From last year, but it still applies: *click me*

My letter is here.
24th-Apr-2012 05:02 am (UTC) - Open letter for fic exchange summergen

So how do I make a little link like "here" instead of this unwieldy link that I've got?

What you have is just fine. But you do it like this:

[a href="YOURLINKHERE"]click here[/a]

but replace [ with < and ] with >

Um...your link is locked. It's no good to your writer if she can't access it :)
13th-May-2012 04:10 am (UTC) - Re: Open letter for fic exchange summergen
Is it unlocked now? It's amazing I can do anything at all on the computer, really.
13th-May-2012 04:41 am (UTC) - Re: Open letter for fic exchange summergen
I'm still getting "access denied". Sorry!
13th-May-2012 05:35 am (UTC) - Re: Open letter for fic exchange summergen
All right. It says "Show this entry to_____". And I've checked "Custom" and then checked "Summergen" rather than "family" or "Spn friends." what am I doing wrong?
13th-May-2012 05:47 am (UTC) - Re: Open letter for fic exchange summergen
Oh, I see. You need to set the access to "everyone".

Using summergen as a filter would only work if you added everyone in the community to the filter individually, and we've got a few people taking part this year who don't have an LJ account so that wouldn't be enough to give them access.

Even if the rest of your LJ is locked, for this it would have to be a public entry. If you're not comfortable with that, just put your letter in a comment here instead of your journal.

Okay. I'll put it in a comment here, and thank you for dealing with it. I don't understand why it doesn't just let everyone who's a member of Summergen see it... But I suppose if some people don't have LJ accts that doesnt even matter.

Also--I've received my assignment! Thanks.

Dear writer,
I appreciate your writing whatever you come up with and thank you for your gift! This is just to say a few things as per mod b's suggestion.

My favorite stories are casefics. My favorite character is Dean, but I'm attached to Sam, too, and like best a story in which both brothers are main characters and what they do means a lot to each other.

I don't particularly like "schmoop," though I'm happy if they get to be happy sometimes (and they're going to get a happy ending in my head, no matter what they get on the show). H/C of all kinds is great, Dean being badass even when it hurts (and Sam too for that matter) is lovely. I enjoy fight scenes (a lot).

Please don't kill off either of the boys unless you also bring them back! Apocafic gives me the willies unless there's at least a bit of hope. I'm not crazy about gender-switching or changing into animals. Other than that, psychological stuff, post-Hell PTSD, demon possession, etc. are fascinating. I like outsider POV a lot, too.

Crossovers are fine especially if there's a bit of humor involved – I've read Psych, House MD, and NCIS crossovers that I've enjoyed, but I've only watched the Buffy movie and have never watched Stargate.

I like all the other characters on the show. I've liked the time travel episodes, I like the monster-of-the-week episodes, I like pretty much everything on the show. I just wish it had a two-hour time slot each week with no hiatuses.

If this feels to you as though I'm being too bossy, just ignore it except for "not too bleak" and "not too schmoopy," and I'm sure I will love whatever you do. Thanks again!

Mine is here. :-) (Bit late with this, I know, but there's nothing critical in it; I just thought I'd write one because I loved the one my recipient wrote, and I thought my writer should have one too!)
