Sign Up for SPN Summergen 2010

This is the sign-up post for SPN Summergen 2010!

To sign-up, leave a comment to this post using the guidelines and format below. If you don't sign up using these guidelines and this format, we're going to take it as a sign that you haven't read the rules and mock you gleefully because of it. Also, your sign-up won't count if it's in the wrong format.

Please, even if you've done summergen before and know how it all works, PLEASE do read through the guidelines below. The template is designed to make matching everyone up as straightforward as possible. Have mercy on your mods and make sure you understand what the template is asking for before you comment with your sign-up.

Sign ups are now closed. Please don't edit comments any further.

Guide to the sign-up template:

This is what the sign-up template looks like:

Name:
Email:
I am offering:
Fic / Art / Vids (delete as appropriate)
Genres I prefer to write:
Any characters I prefer not to write:

Art or Vids I can offer:

Any crossovers I am willing to create for:

My requests: (Please preface your prompts with Fic / Art / Vid)
Three to six prompts:
1.
[Fic]
2.
[Fic]
3.
[Fic] .
4.
5.
6.
Scenarios and stories I would rather not receive:

You must copy the whole template into a comment, and don't miss out any of the questions. If the question isn't relevant to you (e.g. if you're not offering fic, you wouldn't answer the genre question) just enter n/a or "none", but don't leave the question out.

The first part of the template is about who you are. You do not need an LJ account to sign-up: you can comment using Open ID from any other site which supports it.

Name:
Email:
These are self-explanatory, I hope. A working email address is required because prompts will be sent out via email.

The second section is about what you are offering to write or create for another fan. Except for the fourth question, the emphasis here is on the positive - say what you CAN do, not what you can't. This is important, as that's how we'll match assignments to requests - only on the positives.

I am offering: Fic / Art / Vid Delete Fic / Art / Vid as appropriate.
Genres I prefer to write (fic only): Please include as much as possible here, but do specify what you CAN do, not what you CAN'T. If you're not offering fic at all, enter "None" here.
Art/Vids I can offer: If you're an artist or a vidder give an idea of the type of things you can do (e.g. vids, icons, headers etc.) If you are not offering art or vids, enter "None".
Any characters I prefer not to write/vid/draw: This is character-specific. Prompts can cover any characters from Supernatural canon - if there are characters you can't work with, especially the popular ones, say so here.
Any crossovers I am willing to create for:

List any crossover fandoms you can work with. Please give the full name of the fandom, not an abbreviation. Abbreviations such as "SPN" for Supernatural are not always obvious to people not in the fandom they refer to.

The last section is where you say what kind of fanwork you would like to receive in return.

My requests:
Three to six prompts:
1.
[Fic]
2.
[Fic]
3.
[Fic]
4.
5.
6.

Please preface your prompts with Fic / Art / Vid.

Usually, it's obvious from a prompt what kind of work is being requested, but please do use those tags. It will make the matching much simpler for me.

See notes below on prompts. Your first three prompts MUST be for Fic, but you can give multi-purpose prompts, too e.g. [Fic or Vid]. Prompts 4, 5 and 6 can be for Fic, Art or Vids - your choice.

Scenarios and stories you'd rather not receive: This section is where you specify the kinds of stories you don't want to receive as your gift. It is not about what you don't want to receive as your assignment. Please remember this is a GEN exchange - there's no need to specify that you don't like Wincest, for example. But say so here if you don't want death fic for example, or if certain genres don't appeal to you. Note: this is the only part of your request we ask your assignee to respect to the letter, so please be clear about any dislikes.

About your prompts:

  1. This is a Gen fic exchange. All of your prompts should be pairing-free.
  2. You must provide at least three (3) fiction prompts, and you can provide as many as six (6) if you want to give the person you're matched with more options. At least three prompts must be for fic, but your other three prompts can be for fic, vids or art.
  3. You may request crossovers, but please limit yourself to only one (1) crossover prompt, as those are much harder to match with willing authors.
  4. The prompts can be as general or specific as you like, but do try to leave some leeway. The prompts should give your author or artist ideas for what stories and topics you love, or information that will help him or her create fantastic art or graphics or a vid, so keep that in mind when you're writing them.
  5. If you'd love to write or receive a story about particular characters who are not Sam & Dean, make sure that's clear from your sign-up prompts.

Please tag your prompts as Fic, Art or Vids. If you don't tag, I'll have to guess, and I might get it wrong. If you want to offer prompts that can be used for more than one of these, just use multiple tags as in the example below.

This should also go without saying, but just in case: when specifying what you prefer to write and receive, make sure those preferences are informative for this exchange. In other words, specifying that you prefer not to receive "het, rimming, incest, mpreg, BDSM and bestiality" is completely useless, because this is a gen fic exchange and nobody is going to write those things anyway, especially not when they're writing from your prompts. The idea is to give both the mods making the assignments and the author writing for you an idea what kind of story best fits you within the contest of this exchange, not within the context of every fanfic squick you've ever had.
